Looking after your pieces

Care instructions

Every Beadsyde piece is handmade from beads, resin and mixed materials. With a little care, they will stay bright, smooth and wearable for years.

Everyday care

Beadsyde pieces are handmade with beads, resin and mixed materials. A little everyday mindfulness goes a long way.

  • Put your jewellery on last, after makeup, perfume and hair products have settled.
  • Take it off before bathing, swimming, sleeping or working out.
  • Wipe each piece with a soft, dry cloth after wearing to lift off skin oils.

Storing your jewellery

How you store your pieces matters almost as much as how you wear them. Friction, humidity and tangling are the main culprits.

  • Store each piece separately in the pouch or box it arrived in.
  • Keep it in a cool, dry spot, away from direct sunlight.
  • Lay necklaces flat or hang them so chains do not knot.
  • Avoid dumping multiple pieces together in one pouch, beads can scratch each other.

Cleaning

Gentle is the whole brief. Harsh cleaners, ultrasonic machines and jewellery dips can damage beads, resin and plating.

  • For regular cleaning, use a soft, dry microfibre cloth.
  • For a deeper clean, use a barely damp cloth and dry immediately.
  • Do not soak beaded or resin pieces in water or cleaning solutions.
  • Skip commercial jewellery cleaners, silver dips and ultrasonic devices.

What to avoid

A short list of things that quietly shorten the life of handmade jewellery.

  • Water, especially chlorinated pool water and sea water.
  • Perfume, deodorant, body sprays and hair products sprayed directly onto pieces.
  • Hand sanitiser, bleach, cleaning solutions and strong cosmetics.
  • Extreme heat, like leaving pieces in a hot car or next to a stove.
  • Rough handling, tugging clasps or overstretching beaded strands.

Travel tips

Jewellery travels best when it is packed with a little intention.

  • Carry pieces in a small pouch or fold down travel roll, not loose in a bag.
  • Keep valuables in your hand luggage, not checked in.
  • Slip a soft cloth between stacked pieces to prevent scratches.
  • Remove jewellery before the pool, the beach or the spa.
